Profile

Gabriel was a draughtsman at a leading architecture firm in Singapore, before beginning his legal career as a paralegal in Straits Law Practice. He then read law at the University of Liverpool, completed his pupillage under the supervision of Sreeni and Muralli in 2016, and worked with them at Straits Law Practice and subsequently K&L Gates Straits Law. Gabriel then ventured out, and practised as a partner in ranked disputes boutiques for a number of years before joining Sreenivasan Chambers.

Gabriel is frequently instructed as lead counsel, and has successfully argued a broad range of civil litigation matters, such as emergency/interim relief applications and contentious insolvency and restructing hearings in the Singapore Courts. Gabriel’s active complex commercial disputes practice include fraud investigations, international arbitration, and litigious corporate insolvency matters. Gabriel regularly handles transnational disputes, and he represents financial institutions, multinational corporations and organisations, and corporate creditors and debtors. He has significant experience advising on, co-ordinating, and managing concurrent disputes and proceedings across multiple jurisdictions.

Gabriel is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators, and a member of INSOL International and the Insolvency Practitioners Association of Singapore. Some of Gabriel’s recognitions include being ranked in the Asian Legal Business ALB SE Asia 40 under 40 2022.

Gabriel has a strong focus on giving back to the community. He has an active pro bono practice. He has volunteered with the Criminal Legal Aid Scheme, the Community Legal Clinics organised by the Law Society of Singapore’s Pro Bono Services, and the Assisted Deputyship Application Programme administered by the Ministry of Social and Family Development. Gabriel is a member of the school management committee of St. Patrick’s School, an advisor to the board of management of the Christian Brothers’ Schools, and advisor to the trustees of the Lasallian Trust of Singapore.

He has also served and continues to serve on various Standing Committees of the Law Society of Singapore.
